Baked Pears with Granola (6 Ingredients!)

Looking for an elegant dish that literally involves five minutes of prep time? These walnut granola baked pears are the ideal pear-ing! Lovely and made with just 6 ingredients.

To be honest, pears have always been one of my least favorite fruits. I can’t put my finger on why, but I just don’t normally find them that exciting. Perhaps it’s a texture issue? Dan describes them as “sand bags.”

How to Make Baked Pears

Baking pears with a crunchy oat filling helps caramelize their natural sugars. You likely have most of the ingredients necessary already in your pantry! Store bought granola works in a pinch.

Yet another single serving recipe, this could even work well as a breakfast with yogurt. It makes a lovely side for the upcoming holiday season and also works as a dessert when served with ice cream. The recipe is vegan and can be made gluten free.

Description

Looking for an elegant dish that literally involves five minutes of prep time? These walnut granola baked pears are the ideal pear-ing! Lovely and made with just 6 ingredients.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 ripe pears (Bosc)
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup crushed walnuts*
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats*
  • 2 TBS uncooked quinoa (optional)*
  • 1 TBS oil or applesauce*
  • 13 TBS Maple syrup, agave, or honey if not vegan (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Slice each pear in half and place upright onto a lightly oiled baking sheet. Using a teaspoon or melon baller, scoop out pear seeds + some inside flesh so there is a nice cavity for the filling.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon, walnuts, oats, quinoa if using, oil/applesauce, and maple syrup. If you’d like to use store bought granola, that’s fine too!
  4. Scoop oat mixture into each pear, stuffing down as much as possible. You may have some leftover; feel free to add this to the side of the baking sheet to crisp up.
  5. Sprinkle with more cinnamon + maple syrup if desired and bake for 20 minutes. Best enjoyed warm.

Notes

*Feel free to substitute store-bought granola is that’s what you have on hand.
