Who is Garlic Head for?

The audience for Garlic Head includes people looking to introduce fun back into their cooking routine. This is a place free of judgement or labels. Garlic Head is for people who want to feel their best and fuel themselves with delicious, nourishing foods that do not sacrifice their time not budget.

Plant-based food can be delicious. I started this blog because I am passionate about this fact, and I know that of any singular human activity, how we eat has the largest impact on our planet's wellbeing. Furthermore, eating a diet rich in vegetables makes me feel my best, and I want to share this with others. By no means do you need to be "vegan" or "plant-based" to enjoy this content and have it improve your time in the kitchen.

How Garlic Head Started

I have been eating almost exclusively plant-based since 2012. This is how I feel the best and I am passionate about sharing this with others. From an ecological perspective, we know that reducing the amount of meat and dairy in the modern diet has very large benefits on climate change. Taking steps to show others how simple (and delicious) and plant-forward diet can be has always been a key motivating factor for me.

Unlike many other plant-forward bloggers, I do not believe in ANY sort of restriction in our diets. I never count calories or macros, no foods are "off limits." I am not a "perfect" plant-based eater and would never aspire to be. After struggling with disordered eating for a few years, I was fortunate to work with some health coaches that helped me drop labels and unhelpful narratives around food. For this reason, Garlic Head is full of a number of dessert recipes, with the core narrative being a cultivation of fun and freedom when cooking.

Do you need to be vegan to make these recipes?

No. With the exception of some dog-focused content, Garlic Head recipes are all plant-based and designed with flexibility in mind. I always provide as many substitution options as possible, along with suggestions for people who do not share my personal dietary preferences. Even if you are a devout carnivore, I guarantee there is something here for you!

Where to Start

The name of this blog references, unsurprisingly, my love of garlic. If you are not as much of a fan, never fear. I post both sweet and savory recipes, and (more importantly), a lot of desserts! My current favorite drink recipe is this coffee tahini smoothie. My favorite dinner is this simple Peanut Stir Fry.

On the Recipe Index you will find a number of helpful categories to get started on your recipe search, including Budget Dinners, Quick and Easy Mains, and even Dog-Friendly content. My most popular post is actually a recipe for 3-Ingredient Dog Treats! Feel free to sort by season, meal type, ingredient, and more.

I hope you love making these recipes just as much as I enjoy creating them for you.
